HOBE SOUND
- John Reback of North Palm Beach
pulled away from Miami’s Jon Williams in the final three miles to win the 12th
annual Del Hagin Memorial 15K Run held Sunday morning at the Jones/Hungryland
Preserve. Reback covered the 9.3-mile out-and-back trail course in 55
minutes, 49 seconds and set a course record in the process. Williams
finished second in 56:12, and Fort Pierce’s Tom Perona, 52, was third in
58:58 and won the Masters (age 40 and over) title for his efforts.
In the women’s race, Michelle Weiler of Palm City set a new
course record of 1:02:50 to win the Overall title, Stuart’s Brenda Wilson,
49, was second in 1:04:33 and won the Masters title, and Shannon Fox of West
Palm Beach finished third in 1:05:31.
A total of 76 runners completed the event, which was held for
the second year on the trails at Jones/Hungryland Preserve and sponsored by
the Martin County Parks and Recreation Department and hosted by the Sailfish
Striders Running Club of Stuart.
